Indian Affairs Committee to Hold Hearing on Trust Fund Litigation

On Thursday, March 29, the Senate Indian Affairs Committee is scheduled to hold a hearing on the Indian trust fund litigation, including the Cobell class action lawsuit. Chairman of the Committee, Senator Byron Dorgan (D-ND), said that invited Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne to the hearing to "publicly discuss the origin of the settlement offer and to explain its details." Senator Dorgan said he also wants testimony from the Cobell plaintiffs and tribal leaders.
